About the company

Vikstrom Group AB is a Swedish limited company (aktiebolag) based in Stockholm. We design and build software where privacy is the starting point rather than an afterthought: strong end-to-end encryption, minimal data collection, and the absence of tracking are engineering requirements we design around from the first line of code.

We develop and publish our own products and take on selected consultancy work in the same areas — secure mobile development and applied cryptography. Our current focus is Rún, a private messenger for iOS and Android that we develop, publish, and support ourselves.

What we do

Privacy-first product development

From idea to the App Store and Google Play: architecture, native development for iOS and Android (Swift and Kotlin Multiplatform), release engineering, and long-term maintenance. Data that is never collected cannot be leaked, sold, or demanded.

Applied cryptography

End-to-end encryption, forward secrecy, authenticated key exchange, and key material held in the platform's secure storage. We treat the server as part of the threat model: infrastructure only ever handles sealed ciphertext it cannot read.

Network privacy

Metadata can be as sensitive as message content. We route traffic over the Tor network, pad messages to fixed sizes, and keep no connection logs — so infrastructure learns as little as technically possible about who is talking to whom.

A private messenger — end-to-end encrypted, routed over the Tor network, with no accounts and no tracking.

No accounts. No phone number, email address, or username — contacts pair directly with each other.
End-to-end encrypted, with forward secrecy on the message channel. Only the two devices in a conversation hold the keys.
Routed over Tor. The relay never learns your IP address, and it only ever holds sealed, fixed-size ciphertext.
Local encrypted vault. Conversations live on your device, protected by a PIN-derived key, never on a server.
No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers — in the app or on this website.

How we work

Data minimisation by default. We start from “collect nothing” and justify every exception, rather than the reverse.
The server is an adversary. Designs must remain private even if the infrastructure is compromised or compelled.
Established cryptography only. We build on well-studied primitives and protocols — no home-grown ciphers.
Continuous review. Security-relevant code is audited and re-audited as the products evolve.
